GOALS FOR MY SECOND YEAR
School only started back a few weeks ago, but my second year of college already seems to be flying by. I want to make the most of this year and the opportunities it will present me, so I have a few goals in mind that I want to accomplish by next May.
- I want to apply for a Teaching Assistant position, hopefully during the month of January.
- I would like to prepare a poster to present at the or Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium
- I hope to start regularly volunteering at the Child Advocacy Center gain more clinical hours.
- I want to successfully conquer both Organic Chemistry I and II, especially after hearing so many horror stories about those classes.

There are many more things that I want to accomplish during my sophomore year, but I am hoping that, amidst all of the goals and deadlines, I can remain present and focused each day.
UPDATE
Now I am only a few weeks away from completing my second year at UF. To celebrate this milestone, I want to revisit the goals I listed above and evaluate how successful I was in achieving them.
- I was able to obtain a TA position in the Microbiology Lab with my favorite professor, Dr. Jo Bacusmo!
- I was able to present at the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium with my research partner Hannah!
- Although I wanted to start volunteering during fall, I had a lot of responsibilities. Regardless, I started during spring!
- Now I fully understand why Organic Chemistry I and II have such terrible reputations. Both of these classes have driven me a little insane, but they have also forced me to rethink my study habits. Ultimately, I believe I will benefit from my struggles.
